A small yellow labrador retriever cross named Tammy. I haven’t stopped smiling since the day I received that call and couldn’t wait to tell everyone I new about the good news. She’s given me the confidence to start living a fulfilling life with sight loss. Tammy’s has a strong, excitable yet sweet and adorable personality that wins over peoples hearts. She loves cheese and carrots that go crunch in her mouth and any toy that goes squeak!

I ALSO PLAY BLIND CRICKET FOR SURREY VISUALLY IMPAIRED CRICKET, AND FOR THE U.K. LADIES BLIND CRICKET TEAM

Which, in July 2018 won 4-1 in a series played in and against the West Indies women’s blind cricket team. We run completely on donations and funds raise by the ladies themselves and we hope to raise enough money for another series abroad but also to be able to host a home series.

All the ladies who play have a visual impairment of varying levels ranging from partially sighted to players who are totally blind and every player has a role in the team and its success.

BEFORE BEING PART OF THE CRICKET TEAM AND HAVING TAMMY, I SUFFERED WITH ANXIETY TO THE POINT THAT I WAS UNABLE TO WALK INTO ANOTHER ROOM IN MY HOUSE ALONE.

I couldn’t leave my house alone or even be in the garden without having specific people with me.and my other health conditions took hold of me. However, since playing cricket I have grown in confidence, met new people who have become some of my closest friends and this year I won BCEW’s women’s player of the year.

Tammy (GD) has also helped me grow in confidence and after 10 years of severe anxiety I can now move freely through my own home, venture into the garden and recently she gave me the courage to leave my home and together we made the first 3 minute journey to meet with friends at their home where we now make that journey every Monday evening!

She’s an incredible addition to the family and has even helped me improve my health conditions.

THIS IS A NEW CHALLENGE FOR ME, AND ONE I COULD NEVER HAVE DREAMED OF BEFORE, BUT NOW WITH TAMMY ANYTHING SEEMS POSSIBLE.
